Military REACH Project Manager
Help us celebrate Haley Sherman, Military REACH graduate student, for receiving both the Outstanding Graduate Student Award and the Graduate
First-Year Experience (FYE) Mentor Award! The Outstanding Graduate Award is presented to graduate students by Auburn University’s Graduate
School and the Graduate School Council and is based on the student’s academic excellence, while the Graduate FYE Mentor Award recognizes
selected graduate students who mentored first-year graduate students and served as an advisor to help them acclimate to their new programs.
To say we are proud of Haley and grateful she is a member of the Military REACH team is an understatement.
Haley has worked with our team for the past two years as a graduate research assistant, where she regularly translates family science research
into accessible language and tools for diverse stakeholders, including military families, direct service helping professionals, military
leadership, and policy makers. Although Haley’s list of professional accomplishments extends beyond her efforts with Military REACH, her
Military REACH accomplishments alone are remarkable. She has led the efforts on three different research projects/reports, mentored an
undergraduate student whose work was ultimately published in a journal and will be presented at a national conference, and she has authored
or co-authored:
- 58 Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) reports,
- Four evidence-based articles on the well-being of military families,
- Two monthly topics featured in the Military REACH newsletter,
- One research report detailing Post Traumatic Growth, and
- Countless social media posts that provide followers with a quick takeaway from current research.
Haley Sherman is an exceptional student and professional, and it is an honor to work with her each day.
She is nothing short of a go-getter who represents the values of our AU community — a drive to develop
sound scholarship and a focus on engagement and outreach to equip communities with research-based solutions.
She is absolutely deserving of these two prestigious awards.
