1% of the U.S. population serves in the Armed Forces, and a quarter of them have at least one parent who served before them. Our students were interested in why such a high percentage of people follow their parents' career paths. So, in this piece, they blend empirical research with qualitative feedback to learn more about their decisions to join.

2,000+ military-connected teens were surveyed by the National Military Family Association about their intentions to serve the country. 44% reported intending to enlist in the future, and 18% reported intending to do so upon their high school graduation.
