American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) is an international organization that represents the professional interests of marriage and family therapists and clinicians, and the goal of the Georgia-based AAMFT chapter is to provide continuing education to their members. Last week our team was invited to virtually present to about 30 clinicians to spread the word about how our resources can be used in their everyday practice.

REACH team members and doctoral students, Davina Quichocho and Meredith Farnsworth, spoke with the clinicians to share the purpose of Military REACH, ways to access our research (e.g., MilitaryREACH.org, Monthly Newsletter, social media), and the importance of linking research to their practice. During the virtual presentation, the chapter members were engaged, and asked questions ranging from “On average, why does it take 17 years for professionals to have access to ‘current’ research,” to “Are the REACH resources free?,” which the answer is yes! The chapter members also learned tangible ways they can incorporate REACH resources into their practice, such as signing up for the monthly REACH newsletter and regularly using our library database.

Military REACH is always thankful for opportunities to highlight how our free resources can empower and equip those serving military families with professionals like the Georgia-based AAMFT clinicians.
