Biography

Dr. James Michael Duncan is an instructor in the School of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas and is the current President of the Southeastern Council on Family Relations and certified family life educator. He also previously served as a non-commissioned officer in the US Air Force, during which time he was awarded the Combat Action Badge and the Purple Heart as a result of being engaged in combat and receiving wounds from enemy forces while carrying out duties as a Lead Vehicle Commander performing convoy operations in support of OIF. Following his military service Dr. Duncan focused on researching novel approaches, such as using leisure, to promote positive outcomes for service members, veterans, and military families across the lifespan.
