Abstract Created by REACH
The Military REACH team was asked to identify a comprehensive definition of posttraumatic growth (PTG) and review
the empirical literature to understand if and how service providers can facilitate PTG among service members and their
families.
In accordance with the request, this report provides an overview of the scholarly work concerning PTG to clarify what
PTG is, how it occurs, and how it may be facilitated. This report is divided into three primary sections.
