Despite military children’s demonstrated adaptability, flexibility, and resilience during these transitions, those who require special education services can experience additional disruptions (e.g., delays in reestablishing services, changes to or elimination of IEP, learning gaps).2 With each move to a new state or school district, there is a possibility that the student’s prior individualized education plan (IEP) is amended or eliminated, depending on state eligibility criteria or the capacity of the school to provide comparable services.
