Abstract Created by REACH
This systematic review used ecological systems theory to understand the multifaceted challenges faced by young widowed individuals (i.e., less than 50 years old) around the world. The review included qualitative (n =14), quantitative (n = 3), and mixed-methods (n = 1) studies published between 2013 and 2023; the researchers conducted a thematic synthesis of quotes from each qualitative article. Overall, young widows and widowers were managing challenges across individual, interpersonal, community, and policy socioecological levels.
