1. Experimental Study/Design
An experimental study allows researchers to examine the effects of a factor or intervention on outcomes of interest in a specific group or population. True experiments require longitudinal design to examine effects over time, a control group to compare outcomes with the experimental group, and random assignment to the experimental or control groups to rule out other potential influencing factors. If these traits are no present, the design may be referred to as semi- or quasi-experimental.
