(0)1. Comparison Group
In non-experimental research, the comparison group consists of the participants that do not receive the intervention of interest, or receive an alternative intervention, and to whom researchers compare the outcomes of participants who receive the intervention of interest.

2. Matched Comparison Group
"A matched comparison group is a subsample of participants selected to be a point of comparison for a group receiving an intervention. Participants for the matched comparison group are selected based on having similar characteristics to the group receiving the intervention."
