1. Biopsychosocial Model
The biopsychosocial model is George Engel's philosophy for medical research and treatment. This model takes a holistic approach to medicine, addressing the hierarchy of systems (from societal to molecular) which can influence an individuals health and well-being. Thus, rather than looking solely at the biological issues associated with illness and disease, the biopsychosocial model assesses the biological, psychological, and social consequences of illness.
