Audit Trail

An audit trail is a detailed record of the research process that documents the steps taken by the researcher from the initial research question to the final conclusions. The audit trail serves as a means of checking the accuracy and reliability of the data and provides a transparent record of the research process that can be examined by other researchers or reviewers." An audit trail may include field notes, reflexivity notes, data collection decisions, and information about the roles of research team members.
